Job Description:

Blackstone Environmental, Inc. is seeking to retain an Engineer in Training (E.I.T.). The E.I.T will provide technical services to support a wide array of civil and environmental projects. Projects may include solid waste facility design, field geotechnical and environmental monitoring and sampling, water resource engineering, construction oversight, AutoCAD drafting, civil grading and drainage plans, providing basic engineering calculations to support project goals, and work as an extension of project engineers in providing design support. Work deliverables will include calculations, design plans, field documentation, and monitoring reports. Blackstone will provide on-the-job training as part of the engineer-in-training process with the engineer expected to work toward obtaining his or her professional engineer’s license.

Job Requirements:

Expected duties and on-the-job training will include the following:

  • Utilize AutoCAD skills on assignments.
  • Work as field technician using nuclear density gauge, obtaining certification for use within 30 days.
  • Learn fundamentals of environmental permitting for solid waste facilities (federal, state, and local regulations).
  • Collect geotechnical and environmental samples, document sample collection, and make/collect field measurements.
  • Understand protocol for environmental sampling, including sample analysis, chain-of-custody, sample preservation, and data interpretation.
  • Learn and demonstrate an understanding of report writing to support project goals.

Duties may require travel and work in the field. The ideal candidate must be able to work successfully as a member and eventually as a leader of a project team and independently as necessary to execute assignments.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Experience:

  • Entry-level position up to five years of experience. 

Certificates/License:

  • Required at entry: valid driver’s license, Engineer in Training (E.I.T).
  • Preferred but not required: OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and current on updates.
