Job Description:

Blackstone Environmental, Inc. is seeking to retain an experienced P.E. for our growing Solid Waste Practice. The Solid Waste P.E. will participate in solid waste-consulting efforts for the company, including client management, staff mentoring, project/profitability management, and client and agency communication. Additional engineering experience with Water Resources/Stream Stabilization projects (non-solid waste related) is a strong plus.

Job Requirements:

Expected duties will include the following:

  • Support Blackstone’s solid waste practice through client development and management, project execution, and staff development
  • Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in the development of new business with existing clients;
  • Develop new business from private and public solid waste clients;
  • Provide experience and oversight for landfill CQA projects;
  • Manage and oversee design and permitting of Landfill components, including landfill gas systems, leachate collection systems, landfill expansion, and final cover design;
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for solid waste engineering projects;
  • Manage multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables; and,
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff in the proper planning and execution of solid waste engineering projects, and in directing or conducting independent technical reviews of deliverable work products.

Education:

  • Minimum, B.S. in Engineering (civil, chemical, environmental) or related discipline.

Experience:

Industry experience in solid waste consulting. Experience working in the Midwest with regulatory agencies and private and public solid waste clients in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa and Arkansas is a plus. Proven experience developing and implementing successful client relationships and an established reputation and recognized technical expertise in the Midwestern region. Candidate should have strong leadership skills with the ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams. Professional Engineer license preferred.

  • Design and permitting of landfill components.
  • Landfill gas system design, installation, monitoring, and reporting; Landfill Construction Quality Assurance.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal regulations.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
