Project Summary

Blackstone Environmental, Inc. provided turnkey environmental consulting services to an existing client with respect to acquisition of an adjoining, former gasoline station property for redevelopment. The Client desired to purchase a property that had recently closed and been used as a filling station since about 1931. Property issues included recent use as a filling station/convenience store, three 8,000-gallon USTs present on site requiring closure, and prior assessment work conducted by the State identified that a release to soil and groundwater had occurred on the property. Blackstone assisted the Client in navigating the process to mitigate potential environmental liabilities.

Services Provided

  • Performed Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
  • Worked with seller and Client to enter the Site into a State reimbursement program for UST removal
  • Developed bid specifications for removal of USTs, piping and canopy
  • Provided oversight of the bidding process and contractor qualification and selection
  • Documented the removal process and arranged for the sampling assessment to be performed by the State
  • Assisted the seller with applications and documentation necessary to enter the Site into the State reimbursement fund for future assessment and monitoring
  • Provided general support to satisfy State requirements for reimbursement of removal costs
