Senior Solid Waste Engineer

Job Description:
Blackstone Environmental, Inc. is seeking to retain a Senior Leader in our Solid Waste Engineering Group for our growing Solid Waste Practice. The Solid Waste Senior Leader will lead solid waste-consulting efforts for the company, including client management, staff mentoring, execution of projects from initial phases through completion, and client and agency communication.
Job Requirements:
Expected duties and on-the-job training will include the following:
- Provide leadership in Blackstone’s Solid Waste Practice to assist management in project execution and staff development.
- Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in the development of new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.
- Proven experience with the successful completion of landfill design, permitting, and CQA projects.
- Experience with designing and permitting Landfill Gas Systems
- Work closely with clients and develop strong relationships to understand specific processes and develop a permitting and compliance strategy.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for solid waste engineering projects.
- Manage multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
- Appropriately delegate project assignments to project teams and junior staff.
- Develop effective collaborative relationships with Blackstone employees.
- Mentor junior and mid-level staff in the proper planning and execution of solid waste engineering projects, and in directing or conducting independent technical reviews of deliverable work products.
Education:
- Minimum, B.S. in engineering (civil, chemical, environmental) or related discipline.
- M.S. in engineering or engineering management a plus.
Experience:
Ten plus years of industry experience in solid waste engineering. Experience working in the Midwest with regulatory agencies in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa and Arkansas is a plus.
Technical competence in the following areas:
- Solid waste Design and Construction.
- Landfill Gas System Design and Construction.
- Solid waste Construction Quality Assurance.
- Solid waste permitting experience and knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Excellent communication skills.
Proven experience developing and implementing successful client relationships and an established reputation and recognized technical expertise in the Midwestern region.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams.
Certificates/License:
- Required at entry: Valid Driver’s License
- Required at entry: Professional Engineer License in Kansas or Missouri
- Preferred but not required: OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and current on updates
