Blackstone provides a variety of programming to keep employees up-to-date, safe, healthy and well.
The Blackstone Health and Safety Program supports a safe and healthful workplace both in the office and the field. We strive to create an environmental where our employees can perform work tasks safely and are encouraged to provide ideas on areas of improvements.
Supervisors and Project Managers proactively share safety procedures and ensure required training for each employee such as Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), Asbestos Inspector, Nuclear Density Gauge Safety, First Aid/CPR, etc. Blackstone has a dedicated Corporate Health and Safety Officer responsible for the coordination, implementation, and maintenance of our workplace safety program. In addition, senior management is actively involved in safety measures and all staff participates in ongoing safety and health activities.
Our in-depth program includes multiple components such as:
Additionally, Blackstone’s Health and Safety Program has been verified and approved by both ISNetworld and Veriforce, allowing us to work as a certified contractor for a number hiring clients. Both ISNetworld and Veriforce work with hiring clients to streamline the process of gathering health and safety data and evaluating contractor qualifications. This process reduces hiring client risk and liability.

Blackstone initiated a company-wide Health and Wellness Program in 2018 based on employee feedback. Top priorities to support employee wellness are lifetime health, workplace and personal health, safety, nutrition, and life skills. Programming includes:
Wellness Challenges – The challenges, that run during different times of the year, include a variety of options within several categories:
Participants choose items from a list of options to work on during each challenge and share their goals with the Corporate Health and Safety Officer. Blackstone provides incentives for participation and a celebration with time for employees to share about progress. A key element to each challenge is the backdrop of encouragement and support. All progress is celebrated, whether goals or met or not.
Steps Challenges – Blackstone uses Humana’s Go365 Program, which offers both a phone app and an online portal that track online points. Employees have participated in several step challenges (where there is always a good amount of friendly competition). Blackstone provides incentives to keep engagement high.
Mid-Week Health and Wellness Updates – These weekly emails provide timely wellness information, support, resources, encouragement, Go365 program updates, and company-wide challenge and event details.
Events – Employees are encouraged to attend wellness events together (families and friends are always welcome, too). Each year the team participates in the Miles for Mark 5K, founded by one of our staff.
